My husband tells me I cannot go around catching bees one by one and putting them in my hives until I have enough. He sounds wrong, but I guess I’ll believe him.

I have my beehives assembled and ready to be taken to the orchard soon, but for now, they are sitting in the tractor shed out of the way.

Yesterday, I removed the supers and stacked them separately and I made a new friend!

I have been toying with the idea of setting up a nuc box with frames and pheromones to see if I could lure a wild swarm anyways, so I figured we would give it a shot. The nuc box is set up by the garden with frames and sugar water, and we’ll see what comes in between now and next week when the pheromones get here.

Added bonus, this is the perfect excuse to let all my winter veggies go to seed. The bees need them!
Either way, I have two packages of bees coming in late April, so if my experiment fails, we will still get bees!
Stay safe and happy spring!
One by one sounds good…..it gives you time to bond with them🤗💜😜

I might have to find some baby name books to come up with 60,000 names starting with “B” for all the Bees!
