Well, it happened. The moment we’ve been waiting for and dreading for months finally came. Our first calf to a first time heifer was born! I feel so blessed that she needed no help from us and I got to just show up to a newborn baby!
I was holding my own little one, but the husband got to pet her (we think it’s a her, umbilical cords are tricky) and mom and everyone looked great!
UPDATE! As I said, umbilical cords are tricky. We have a bull calf!
One more calf is due any day, and two more later in the year. Slowly but surely, we’re getting the herd together. Happy calving!
