Favorite book series, hands down, LotR. Always has been, and to prove it, my horse is 20 years old and named for a horse of Rohan. So when I tell you it’s a Shire type of Spring, I am confident in my proclamation. Winter was mild, sure. But since March the weather has been perfectContinue reading “A Shire Spring”

Canning Chaos
The biggest issue I’ve had with making tomato sauces is the time it takes to cook down to a useable mixture. We grow mainly San Marzano or Romas for canning and yet despite being paste tomatoes there is still what seems like gallons of excess water in each 7 quart batch. We’re off to Camp!!
Freezer camp, but camp nonetheless. A busy seven weeks are drawing to a close. Garden Boots and Buckets
A good sign of summer at our house is having white buckets strewn about the kitchen. These 2 gallon food grade containers hold summer’s bounty until we can chop, freeze, can, and otherwise nom on our garden harvest.

Delicious Wild Blackberry Wine – Week 1
I was never a huge fan of wine, the whole dry makes your mouth pucker experience wasn’t for me. Give me juice with alcohol content and I’m good. Last summer, we had a person decide to trespass on the old logging road that cuts across the back side of our property. Said person got hisContinue reading “Delicious Wild Blackberry Wine – Week 1”
